Andrew Peffer

Mr. Peffer's Exciting World of Earth Science. The classroom that literally "rocks"!!!

Our Planet

Hello and welcome to ninth grade Earth Science!  My name is Andrew Peffer and I teach both general and honors Earth Science at Penns Valley High School.   I am originally from Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania - and yes, that is the home of the world famous groundhog, Punxsutawney Phil!  I am a graduate of Indiana University of Pennsylvania.  I became a part of the Penns Valley team during the 2005 - 2006 school year.  Below is an overview of the Earth Science course.  Also visit the tabs at the left to view additional class information including course syllabi, homework information and the class calendars.  Thanks for visiting my page!

Both the general and honors Earth Science class will explore our Earth from its formation 4.6 billion years ago to present day with a focus on how and why Earth has and continues to change over time.  Students will be required to understand Earth's structure, both on the surface and inside Earth as well as the processes that change Earth including weathering and erosion , rocks and minerals, plate tectonics, earthquakes and volcanoes.  Students will learn about Earth's past by looking at clues fossils, rocks and rock structures can tell us.  In addition, students will study Earth's atmosphere including climate change and its possible impacts on humans and the environment as well as interpreting meteorological data to understand the processes of weather and weather forecasting.

Please visit the specific Earth science class links on the left side of the page to view the course syllabus for both general and honors classes.  The syllabus includes the description for each Earth science course, classroom procedures and expectations, as well as requirements for the class.

Please visit the "Earth Science Homework Email" link on the left side of the page to view up to date homework assignments, projects and test due dates.  This will be updated daily.  The information on the homework page will also be sent to each student and participating parents via email.  The calendar link on the left side of the page will also include the dates for tests, quizzes and project due dates
