Dear Parents and Guardians,

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself as your child’s junior high school counselor.  I am extremely excited to work closely with students, staff, and parents during the upcoming school year!

As our first step in building a relationship, I would like to tell you a little about myself. I earned my Master’s Degree in Secondary School Counseling from Penn State University and am certified as a school counselor by the Pennsylvania Department of Education. I completed my graduate experience in the Penns Valley School District where I was afforded the opportunity to have firsthand experience as a school counselor.

As a School Counselor, my primary responsibility is to promote the academic, personal, and social development of all students. I look forward to offering support to the students, staff, families and community.  I will be meeting with students individually and in small groups, meeting with parents, collaborating with teachers and staff, and consulting with community organizations to benefit and meet the needs of all Penns Valley students and families. My goal is to create a positive and supportive environment conducive to learning and success. I respect Penns Valley’s emphasis on strong community support and look forward to being an integral part of the whole school community. Please know that I will make every effort to ensure that your child receives as much personal assistance as possible to ensure his/her years here are successful.

Any student can request to meet with me or they can be referred by a teacher, administrator, or parent. I encourage you to reach out if you have concerns regarding your child. If you would like for me to meet with your child please do not hesitate to contact me.  I can be reached by email at kbossert@pennsvalley.org or phone at 814-422-8907.

I’m excited to be part of the Penns Valley family and I look forward to getting to know you and your child!

Warm Regards,

Karen Bossert
